South Woodford has a good selection of shops, larger chain stores and small independents, restaurants and cafes, and a cinema. There are numerous churches and chapels representing many Christian denominations, as well as several synagogues and a mosque.
There are a number of green spaces in the area, many of which form Epping Forest.
The schools in the area are Churchfields and Oakdale schools, both with junior and infant departments, together with St Josephs’ Convent voluntary maintained school, and Woodbridge Secondary School.
Transport links are good with the junction of the North Circular Road and the start of the M11 motorway, South Woodford also offers easy access to the A1400, which merges into the A12. There are good bus services, and the area is served by South Woodford tube station in Travelcard Zone 4 on the Central line of the London Underground.
